Rumba funds X-ray ‘movies’
Supporting pioneering cancer research and treatment for pets has always been right at the heart of what we do.
The C-arm fluoroscope is an X-ray system that facilitates the viewing of moving structures of the body. An image of the part of the body being scanned is transmitted to a TV-type monitor, allowing the clinician to see a real-time X-ray ‘movie’.

Fluoroscopy allows for the treatment of specific organs and supports a variety of examination and procedures, such as positioning a stent into a blocked blood vessel, inserting catheters and placing devices inside the body. It is also used for minimally-invasive fracture repair. The C-Arm Fluoroscope is widely used for medical imaging in humans too.
Here at the Rumba Animal Cancer Foundation (formerly the Rumba Foundation) we continue to support the development of innovative therapies to treat veterinary cancer. Working in partnership with the AURA Veterinary team, one of the country’s leading veterinary cancer centres, we support projects that further advance patient care.

Back when we were the Rumba Foundation, we were pleased to be able to fund the C-arm, knowing of the collaborative work being carried out by AURA with oncologists at the Royal Surrey Hospital. This means that human patients will also benefit as innovative approaches are explored and refined by the teams.

One of our Trustees, Fiona Hindle said: “Nick and the team share our passion to make a genuine difference to pets and their families and we believe that working closely with the world-renowned veterinary clinicians at AURA and staff at Surrey's School of Veterinary Medicine could lead to breakthroughs in cancer treatment and, ultimately, cure. A legacy to an animal that changed our lives forever, as well as all companion animals which deserve the very best of clinical care.”
