Lady's story
The Rumba Animal Cancer Foundation
(previously known as the Rumba
Foundation) donated £50,000 to purchase a C-arm fluoroscope - an x-ray system that allows vets to see moving structures of the body in real time. A c- arm offers greater precision and detail than a standard x-ray, allowing pioneering diagnosis and treatment of animal cancer.
The c-arm has been saving lives since 2015 and has treated hundreds of animals including that of Lady, a ten-year old wire-haired Dachshund.

Previous ultrasounds had shown that Lady had several tumours, which unfortunately, were shown to be cancerous. Thankfully, the team were able to use the c-arm fluoroscope to understand the placement of the lesions in real time, which meant they were able to block the blood supply to the tumours while sparing healthy tissue. Lady is now back to her happy self, enjoying her favourite activities like running on the beach, but without this technology treatment would not have been possible.
Donating to the Rumba Animal Cancer Foundation ensures that more beloved pets like Lady can receive pioneering cancer treatments, and lead longer, happier lives.
